As many of you know, Shoot for Change is a way to raise money for nonprofit organizations through photography. Before I moved to Washington, DC in December 2009, Shoot for Change helped raise $8,000 over 3 years. But after moving to Washington, DC and having my first event at the Peacock Cafe — between June 2010 and December 2011 — Shoot for Change helped raise over $100,000.

As an apprentice with American Ballet Theatre, I’m no longer a student and therefore no longer need the money that the Shoot for Change Scholarship offered to cover my tuition. But I’m so excited that the scholarship is continuing to make dreams possible for other aspiring dancers.

Alexandra Pullen is the first Shoot for Change Scholarship recipient. This was the first time I had ever funded a scholarship and this day was the first day I met her. Read more here.
